The Irish Regulator ComReg has recently launched its
Sender ID (SID) Portal to protect consumers and businesses by ensuring that any SMS traffic to Ireland using AlphaNumeric Sender IDs has been registered by the Brand or Sender ID owner (SIDO).
Since the launch, all companies wishing to send traffic with an AlphaNumeric SID must now register themselves as a SIDO with ComReg directly. Note - SIDs are assigned on a first-come-first-served basis.
Here are the key dates from ComReg:- From July 3, 2025 any unregistered Sender IDs will be overwritten to “Likely Scam” to alert recipients that the SMS may not be legitimate
- From October 3, 2025 all unregistered Sender IDs will be blocked and undelivered
